Should You Pause for a Trip?
During the first 3 days of intensive training: yes, postpone. After the intensive phase: travel with preparation, don't pause. Most families manage well with the right setup.
Essential Travel Packing
- Portable potty or folding seat insert
- 8–10 pairs of training underwear per day of travel
- Waterproof underwear cover for long flights
- Ziplock bags for wet clothes
- Hand sanitizer and wipes
- Compact reward supplies (stickers, small treats)
Road Trips
- Stop every 90 minutes for bathroom visits — scheduled regardless of requests
- Keep portable potty in the car trunk for roadside emergencies
- Underwear while awake; pull-ups only for sleeping portions if you choose
Air Travel
- Airport bathroom before boarding — no exceptions
- Book aisle seats for mid-flight bathroom access
- For flights over 4 hours, a pull-up during flight is reasonable
Hotels and Vacation Rentals
- Bring your child's familiar seat insert — unfamiliar toilets scare some kids
